For the past year and a half, I have been working full-time for an online business training Excel started by my mum Sharyn who is a successful technology trainer.
Since then, I have learnt so much about how to manage a business online and how to do it successfully.
Prior to this I was a student at university gaining a double degree in both nutrition and genetics. At this time, I had the full intention of getting a job as a nutritionist or lab technician as soon as I finished my degree.
Why I rethought where I was heading
Just like many students, Covid 19 hit just as I was finishing my degree. I found myself struggling to find a job in my field due to all the lockdowns and restrictions. Everything that I was working towards seemed to come to a massive halt.
Not only did this stress me out, but it also caused me to rethink what I should be working towards as well as what I wanted out of a job. I wanted something that I could do from home, during lockdowns if I had to, and something where I could choose my own hours.
When discussing these ideas with my mum she said “Why don’t you come work for me? The work is there, you can work from home and it’s completely flexible!”
I immediately felt relief and a rush of excitement! It sounded perfect!
The silver lining
Now I am living my best life being able to balance both my personal and work life perfectly to suit me! I love the fact that if I want to go out during a normal workday to grab a coffee or go for a walk I can.
I also get to work with the best people, my amazing mum Sharyn and lovely sister-in-law Mak!
And I get to work with my cat Lenny who keeps me company every day on my desk, motivating me with cuddles.
How my journey can help you
While I do have a degree from university, I was still a 100% newbie when it comes to the world of having an online business. Since starting I have learnt so much about both working with an online business and maintaining a healthy work/life balance.
Mak, Sharyn and I have so many things stored up over the years that we want to share with you for you to not make the same mistakes we did, to not only learn the best ways to work online but to create a lovely lifestyle!
